Truecaller Launches COVID Hospital Directory to Help Users Find Vacant Beds
Truecaller has launched a new COVID hospital directory for Indian citizens seeking help during the pandemic. The directory includes phone numbers and addresses of designated COVID-19 hospitals in several states across the country, taken from official government databases. The directory is integrated directly into the application and is accessible from the menu or from the dialer. This directory is only intended to give you the contact details and address of the hospital which you can call and check the availability of hospital beds.
As COVID-19 cases rise again in the country, peaking at more than 3.5 lakh per day, hospitals are now operating at maximum capacity. With empty beds being a scarce resource in hospitals, citizens are rushing to look for one at other COVID-19 facilities in their city. Truecaller is looking to help with this research with its new COVID Hospital Directory found in the app or dialer. The company said that this feature is currently available to Android beta users, but should be available to all Android users soon. There is no word on its iOS availability yet.
The new COVID Hospital Directory is located in the upper left corner of the dialer and by clicking on it you will see the different cities it has gathered the details from, in alphabetical order. Click on the city you are in and Truecaller will show you the list of COVID-19 designated hospitals in that city, with their contact details and contact details. Citizens can then use this information and contact the hospital to find the information they need.
“We wanted to quickly introduce a simple directory of important numbers for COVID-related services. We started with this list of hospitals and are working to add other verified sources soon. This is one of the many ways we are helping COVID relief efforts. We offer the support of the entire Truecaller organization and platform, to anyone we can help, ”said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, Managing Director and Product Manager of Truecaller India, in a statement.
