ANN ARBOR, MI – A helicopter travel company offers short scenic fall tours in Ann Arbor.

Based in Westland MI Aviation Flight, which also offers pilot training, is running two tours for $ 40 and $ 80 on Saturday October 24 and Sunday October 25 at Ann Arbor Municipal Airport, 801 Airport Drive.

The $ 40 “Fall Scenery” tour will fly over the Huron River for passengers to get a glimpse of Ann Arbor’s changing fall scenery. The $ 80 Big House tour will combine the fall scenery tour with an overview of downtown and Michigan Stadium.

Each helicopter can accommodate three passengers or an additional person if a family has young children, spokeswoman Cassandra McAllister said. The trips will last from four to eight minutes and the company will cap trips to 250 passengers per day.

“We were in Ann Arbor last summer and we did it as part of an airport fundraiser,” McAllister said.

Passengers are usually given headsets with a microphone but, due to the coronavirus, they will now receive disposable earplugs instead. Staff will also ensure that the doors are securely locked and that the interior is wiped down every hour. Depending on the weather, the doors can be removed to provide fresh air.

Guests will also be asked to wait in their vehicles or arrive on time for their scheduled visit to promote social distancing.

MI Flight Aviation, founded three years ago by Sergio Troiani, 26, also organizes tours to Mackinac, Grand Rapids and Allegan.

“(Sergio) did something like that when he was little,” McAllister said. “He took a helicopter ride and absolutely fell in love. He got his license and quickly realized how expensive it was. He said, “If I have to take a plane, I have to figure out how to make money. Last year it really took off.
