No Way Home proves it’s a fan favorite by becoming the front-runner for this Oscar

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the Oscars “Fan-Favorite” award favorite. The 94th Academy Awards are just around the corner, but what fans are most excited about is one particular category for which you won’t even get the gold trophy. Marvel fans were upset when Tom Holland’s star was snubbed from a Best Picture nomination.
For the uninitiated, the latest MCU movie was only nominated in the Special Effects category. Many people argue that the movie deserved more because it single-handedly saved theaters during the pandemic era. The film, which has now grossed over $1.8 billion, was also backed by Samuel L Jackson after his snub.
However, the Oscars’ new “Fan-Favorite” award has been introduced, and the consensus is that Spider-Man: No Way Home is the favorite. According to Variety, a recent Morning Consult survey showed that the sequel from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures is the fan-favorite film, with 26% of votes for starring Tom Holland.
The survey was conducted on February 19 and 20 with a sample of 2,210 adults. According to the report, after Spider-Man: No Way Home was Disney’s Encanto with 14% of the vote, followed by Dune with 8%, Don’t Look Up with 6%, then Ghostbusters: Afterlife 4%. Other films included in the Oscars “Fan-Favorite” survey were Jungle Cruise, Free Guy, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and West Side Story.
For the uninitiated, Tom Holland’s management had a secret cameo from former Spideys, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. Although some people were already speculating about their return, the cast and crew denied it until the end. When that turned out to be the case, fans flocked to theaters to watch all the Wall-Crawlers in action.
Previously, the Academy’s official Twitter account featured the “Cheer Worthy” moment and shouted out Spider-Man: No Way Home featuring Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire’s versions of the web-slinger reuniting. The 2022 Oscars will take place on March 28.
