Loneliness support services ‘just a click away’ for Newtownabbey residents
The directory was created by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council in collaboration with the Antrim and Newtownabbey Loneliness Network which was created in 2019 to raise awareness and fight against loneliness within the borough.
The online directory contains useful information to help residents find local groups, organizations and services that may be of use to them.
The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Cllr Billy Webb, said: “There is so much support and resources out there and a lot of times people are afraid to ask for help, so it’s great that this information center is easily accessible to our residents.
“With nearly 200 services listed, residents are able to search for organizations specific to their interests or needs.
Valerie Adams, President of Antrim and Newtownabbey Loneliness Network added, “I am delighted that we now have this set of centralized and accessible services that challenge and address issues of loneliness and isolation.
“This directory, which will continue to grow, will be an integral tool for sharing information and practices on loneliness prevention for individuals, groups and organizations across the borough.”
