iSEEK Corporation Launches 3DShapeIndex.com – A Universal Index for 3D Shape on the Web

AMES, Iowa–(BUSINESS WIRE)–iSEEK Corporation launches 3DShapeIndex.com powered by iSEEK’s fully automated CADseek shape classification and search algorithms integrated into a cloud-based deployment. CADseek’s shape classification algorithm does not require the use of tags or tags attached to geometry, or manual training to seed the classification as is the case with AI-based classification methods . The result is therefore a fully automated universal index for form content in all languages and all content types with no restrictions on the type of form to be indexed.
Figure 1 shows the 3DShapeIndex search results for a search target from the Google Scanned Objects dataset. If you would like to index your 3D content to demonstrate your CAD modeling skills or to promote your Business-to-Consumer (B2C) e-commerce platform, please contact us at www.3DShapeIndex.com.
When it launched, 3DShapeIndex.com indexed 3D scanned content from the Smithsonian Institution, 3D molecular models from the Protein Data Bank, Google Scanned Objects, Fusion 360 Gallery, and some inventories of mechanical parts. Despite the diversity of data, this work was carried out using the same CADseek algorithm without any customization or manual intervention.
iSEEK Corporation’s web crawler, CADseek Phoenix, constantly crawls the web looking for additional publicly available 3D content to reflect in the index. 3DShapeIndex users browse datasets using a 2D navigation grid to explore available content and select a target to perform a shape search. All form searches are performed in real time after the user selects the search target and the datasets to be searched. Results are displayed with hyperlinks to the source page to download content or review associated attributes.
CADseek’s 3D shape search and classification technology has been in the market serving global engineering companies for a decade with a suite of shape search products offered by iSEEK Corporation, including: CADseek Polaris – the corporate 3D shapes search engine; CADseek identify – real-time tagless object identification on mobile device based on camera feed or photo; CADseek analysis – the big data shape analysis engine; CADseek Advisor – the CADseek shape search product that works in an active CAD modeling session.
