The City of Huntsville offers several convenient options for Huntsville business owners to renew their business licenses for 2022.

An online licensing system is now available for new and renewing businesses to apply for a commercial or residential business license digitally. Visiting HuntsvilleAL.gov/BusinessLicensecitizens can save time and money for businesses and taxpayers.

The deadline to renew a commercial license for 2022 is Monday, January 31.

“As we grapple with the latest peak of COVID-19, we encourage everyone to use the digital process instead of renewing in person,” said Clerk-Treasurer Ken Benion. “This keeps your sales reps and our licensing staff safe as we process thousands of renewal requests throughout the month.”

For those unable to apply online, three additional options are available:

  • Mail the Business License Form to the Clerk Treasurer’s Office, postmarked by January 31st.
  • Apply in person from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 1st Public Services Building Floor Conference Room, 320 Fountain Circle. Partitioned terminals will be distributed in the room and staff will be available to accept forms, checks and credit card payments.
  • Drop the renewal form and payment (check or money order) in the drop box located in the lobby of City Hall, 308 Fountain Circle.

For more information on trade license laws, search for Huntsville’s municipal codes and ordinances for business licensing and tax laws.
