Cloudflare Works With Microsoft And Major Search Engines To Help Improve Website Search Results
SAN FRANCISCO – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE: NET), the security, performance and reliability company that helps build a better Internet, has announced that it will work with Microsoft, Yandex and other top search engines plan to help businesses get the best relevant search results for their customers. By participating in the IndexNow.org initiative, Cloudflare will enable websites to automatically notify search engines whenever content is created, updated or deleted so that it can be crawled more efficiently. Now, all Cloudflare customers can ensure that users are seeing the most recent version of their content, all with just one click.
Search engines use a complex web of bots to crawl the ever-changing content on the internet so people can find relevant and timely content. Today, around 45% of internet traffic comes from bots and bots. To help improve the efficiency of web crawlers, Cloudflare launched Crawler Hints, a simple way to notify bot developers when content has been changed or added to a site, so they can make more effective choices about what to explore. Additionally, website owners will be able to improve site performance by reducing unnecessary bot traffic and delivering timely content, which ultimately helps improve search rankings. Cloudflare now uses the IndexNow standard to provide Crawler advice to major search engines.
“A fast, reliable website and timely search results are at the heart of any growing business, whether it’s a startup or a Fortune 500 company. From the start, we’ve worked to help our clients to give them the speed, reliability and security they need to do business, ”said Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare. “Today, we’re taking it a step further by working with Microsoft and other major search engines to help any website owner reduce inefficiencies while providing their users with reliable, relevant, and timely online experiences.
Cloudflare’s global network spans over 250 cities in over 100 countries and powers millions of internet properties. Now, any Cloudflare customer can opt for Crawler Hints – for free – with just one click in their dashboard to automatically start sending hints to search engines when content has changed on their site.
“CDN cache data is a really valuable signal for content freshness. Cloudflare, as one of the best CDNs, is essential in adopting IndexNow to become an industry-wide standard with much of the internet actually using it, ”said Fabrice Canel , Senior Program Manager at Microsoft Bing. “Cloudflare has created a very simple 1-click button for its users to start using it immediately. Cloudflare’s mission to help create a better internet resonates well with the reason we launched IndexNow – to create more efficient and effective search.
“Yandex is delighted to join IndexNow as part of our long-term goal of sustainability, ”said Maxim Zagrebin, Head of Yandex Search. “We worked with the Cloudflare team during early testing to incorporate their caching signals into our crawl mechanism through the IndexNow API. The results have been excellent so far.
