Amid ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Leaks, Kevin Feige Talks Marvel’s Spoiler Handling

From training actors to tactically answering questions in pre-release interviews to maintaining high secrecy during a film’s production, studio behemoth Marvel, which is responsible for creating a sprawling fictional universe with interconnected storylines, has formulated several measures to provide the best without spoilers. cinematic experience to fans. However, their techniques only proved effective to a certain extent.
As soon as the exit of Avengers: Endgame in 2019, which maintained the highest level of secrecy, even among the actors who starred in it, to the latest Marvel movie Spider-Man: No Coming Home, the images and spoilers somehow found their way online, disrupting the experience for ardent fans. Despite the setback, the MCU films are still striving, with the aforementioned films ranking among the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time.
Kevin Feige on The MCU’s Success Despite Leaks
According to The Direct, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige at the press tour for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness candidly spoke about the studio’s handling of spoilers found on social media days before big releases. He talked about how dealing with such issues can render the studio powerless after it happens, but also how they can promise a great experience for fans regardless.
He said: ”You have to make sure the experience itself works, regardless of what was messed up or not. We always do the best job we can,” he added, “I think a lot of people are getting good at not airing it. Someone steals something, don’t spill it, as it might just reduce the experience. ”
Make an example from Tom Holland Spider-Man: No Coming Home which brought all the actors who played Spider-Man back together as web crawlers from other universes, Feige felt the leaks in no way “diminished the experience”. He further added, “So we will continue to do our best, but the most important thing is always to deliver the movie or show that delivers, regardless of what you know.”
Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness suffered a setback just days before its big release as footage from the film was leaked on social media. The film is set to be released on May 6, 2022.
