TORONTO, Dec. 14 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Smile CDR, a leading healthcare data and integration platform, received its second Drummond Group certification, verifying compliance with the interoperability mandates of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS ) for programming Interface Provider Directory (API) applications. Drummond Group’s Payer and Patient Access Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR®) certification for the Supplier Directory API, powered by Touchstone, is the only independent testing and certification program that certifies interoperability and standards compliance. the final rule of CMS. Earlier this year, Smile CDR was the first company to receive API Payer and Patient Access FHIR certification.

“Coordinating care between patients, caregivers and providers is a complex and essential choreography of healthcare,” said Duncan Weatherston, Managing Director of Smile CDR. “We are committed to helping patients connect with healthcare professionals and access their data in the easiest way possible ensuring that our customers have an information infrastructure that integrates seamlessly. to their programs and ensures compliance with CMS standards. “

Under CMS’s 21st Century Cures Act, which is designed to help accelerate the development of innovative medical products and advances for patients faster and more efficiently, CMS-regulated payers are required to return supplier directory information publicly available through a standards-based API. Drummond certification authenticates Smile’s compliance with CMS rules and proves that its platform integrates end-to-end functionality to support the mandate, helping patients and providers coordinate care in the most user-friendly and intuitive way possible. .

“Obtaining certification from Drummond for the Smile CDR Supplier Directory is an important step,” said Brian Gibb, CEO and President of Drummond. “This step further advances CMS’s goals of enabling their paying clients to allow patient members to easily search for physicians and their health insurance plan affiliation through third-party applications, as well as to allow clinicians easy access. to coordinate care with other providers. ”

Smile CDR’s Clinical Data Repository (CDR) platform consists of several different applications, with their most recent product, appSphere, launched last month. An integrated productivity suite built into the Smile CDR platform, appSphere simplifies the registration and management of Reusable Medical Applications Replacement (SMART) technology customers on FHIR applications to help payers, hospitals, clinics and electronic health record (EHR) systems to simplify the process of interoperability between data platforms.

Smile CDR is currently working with Drummond to secure additional patient access API badges for claims and encounters and patient clinical data.
